People in Newark share what makes them happy

The Advertiser went out to the streets of Newark asking people what makes them happy and these are their answers.

Happiness is an emotional state that can be described as the feeling of joy, excitement, fulfilment and contentment.

But where does it come from? Each individual will have their own answer to the question, some might say family and friends, money, the outdoors, whilst others might find it in walking the dog or simply waking up in the morning to each new day.

“What we love in life is a good laugh!,” said Cheryl Green and Peter Searle.

“We love going on holiday and going on cruises makes us happy,” said Sara Tonnsend and Pat Collins.

There is no key work for happiness, although there are millions of books, films and songs telling you where to find, what to do and avoid.

The search for happiness seems to be a goal that people live trying to achieve, whether they’re seven or 70, time for a laugh, a smile or a good time is always on the schedule.

“What makes me happy is walking my dog, Betty.” said Mr Harrison.

“Shopping at White Rose,” said the White Rose workers Taylor Brown and Amy Zibek.

The feeling of happiness can come from simple things in life, such as receiving a compliment, finishing a run, saying good morning to a neighbour or a stranger.

“We love going on holiday and going on cruises makes us happy,” said Sara Tonnsend and Pat Collins.

But living a happy life is the greatest treasure one can find.
