What sports do Newark people enjoy the most at the Paris Olympics 2024

We’re nearly at the end of the Olympic games, so we asked people which sports they enjoyed and had been waiting for the most.

With a total of 32 sports, ranging from archery, and athletics to swimming and gymnastics, people’s opinions varied across Newark.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Sports started on July 26 and will finish on Sunday (August 11).

The Great Britain Team had achieved a total of 49 medals at the time of writing, including bronze, silver, and gold.

Swimming this year seems to have been one of the most popular sports, from the people we have spoken to.

“I have been watching some of it. I just switch it on and enjoy all of it. They have been very competitive, it has been really nice,” said Brian Asher.

Val Thurlow and Ilene Fisher said: “We have been watching it.

“We watched the men’s gymnasts, shooting, archery.

“They are all brilliant, everybody, lose it or win it, every country, they are all amazing.”

Janet Needham said: “I have been following the ones I enjoy the most. I enjoy watching swimming, the tennis and it all depends if I switch the TV on and it catches my eye, then I will watch it.”

Donatas Petrauskas said: “The best of all is the swimming. I was waiting for the disk throwing and that was about it.”

Myrren Peace said: “I watched the cycling which was crazy the other day.

The mother, Kelly Ferguson added: “We have been watching the Olympics.”

“We love watching the opening of the Olympics because we are massive Celine Dion fans.

“She is our idol so we watching her opening was amazing.”

“We were looking for all of them, but the gymnastics I love it.”

Newarker Amy Hunt, a fourth of the Great Britain team on the Athletics modality on the 4x100m relays competed yesterday (August 8), and it was the fastest in their heat, completing it in 42.03.

They succeeded in classifying for the final, alongside the Netherlands, Canada, Jamaica, USA, France, Germany and Switzerland.

It will take place today (August 9) at 6.30pm.
