The Newark Advertiser found out what people’s favourite memories and study subjects at school
As thousands of students across the country received their results, we found out what people’s favourite subjects and their favourite school memories.
Growing up everyone had a favourite subject at school, a favourite teacher, friends and also a bunch of favourite memories, following the recent education topic, the Advertiser heard what people across Newark had to say about it.
From English and Math to Science and Woodwork, answers varied across town.
“I like PE because I get to run around and one of my favourite things at school is my teachers,” said Emma Butler, a pupil at school.
Her mother, Lucienne Elliott said: “My favourite was the English language, I loved finding out about some of the origin of words and how sentences are constructed and grammar and things like that.
“I think it’s so important.
“My favourite memory I think was being in sixth form and being in the common room in free periods, just being with friends and having that chillout time.”
John Priestley said: “I liked woodwork because you are making things with your hands.
Alice Priestley said: “I like philosophy because I like thinking about things and I had a good philosophy teacher which helps.”
John Chambers: “I was a very practical person so I like the sciences and the craft of the woodwork but I don’t think they do it anymore like they used to.
“I can’t say I was ecstatic at school so I liked it when it was hometime.”
Margerie Lawton said: “I used to enjoy French, I wasn’t very good at it but I liked it.
“I liked the camaraderie, being together with your friends.”
Peter Beaumont said: “I used to like English, History and Geography.
“I should think that I had a good set of teachers and plenty of mates who left school like me and started work.
“We didn’t want further education, we wanted to start work.”
Gerda Rudaityte said: “I liked Maths and being with friends was my favourite part.”
Her son Etanas Vasiliauskas added: “My favourite subject is PE because I do sports and I enjoy it.”
