Libraries in Newark, Southwell, Bingham and Ollerton to host events to encourage reading over the school holidays
Libraries across the Advertiser area are putting on various events for children this summer to encourage reading during the school holidays.
As part of the effort, libraries in Newark, Southwell, Bingham and Ollerton are holding a summer reading challenge, Wild World Heroes.
The challenge asks children between the ages of four and eleven to read any six library books over the summer break.
There is a medal and certificate available for any child who completes it.
To accompany the Wild World Heroes reading challenge, libraries are also offering a variety of craft-based events for children to enjoy.
At Southwell library, children are invited to get crafty on Wednesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 11 between 10:30 am and 11:30 am.
Over in Bingham, there will be a different craft event each week in August starting with bug crafts on August 10.
A variety of craft events linking to the Wild World Heroes challenge will also be offered at Newark library throughout the holidays.
