Red Arrows will be over Rutland as part of VE Day 75 celebrations





People living in the Newark district might get lucky and spot the Red Arrows as they fly over ahead as part of today's VE Day commemorations.

The Red Arrows squadron is due to fly over the area on its return to RAF Scampton following their flypast over London.

They will be approaching from the South East.

They are expected to be over the area sometime between 10.20am and 10.30am.

They will leave Scampton at 9.37am, travelling east and a map outlines their checkpoints as:

Ingoldmells: 9.43am

Travelling overseas to reach Tittleshall, Norfolk at 9.52am

East of Thetford at 9.55am

West of Brandeston at 9.58am

Basildon at 10.06am

East Ham at 10.09am

East of Bracknell at 10.13am

North East of Winslow at 10.18am

Northampton at 10.22am

The flypast comes as RAF Wittering continues to be considered as one of three possible homes for when the Arrows leave their current base in 2022.

The other sites under consideration are RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire and RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
