Newark Advertiser reader’s letter: Where are all the colourful birds?

One wood pigeon, one blackbird! Where are all the nice colourful birds we used to have?

Bluetits, goldfinches, rob-ins, etc, probably killed off by all the local cats.

Why should I put up with the wretched creatures?

They are not wild animals. Wild animals kill to eat, cats just kill.

It must be a nightmare for parents when children play in the garden. The cats mess on the grass, which is a health hazard.

People who insist on having cats should have to arrange to keep them within their own property.

That’s what is expected of dog owners. — P. J. Smith, Balderton.
