Winners of Collingham by-elections announced




The winners for two Collingham by-elections have been announced.

Conservative Emma Davis won the Newark and Sherwood District Council seat with 982 votes.

Independent Debbie Darby also received 2009 votes in a landslide victory to take the Nottinghamshire County Council vacancy.

Debbie Darby said: “This is as much a victory for our communities as it is a rejection of the mainstream political parties.

"I’d like to thank everyone who put their faith in me—I won’t let them down."

The vacancies follow the death of long-standing politician Maureen Dobson, who represented Collingham for many years.
