People enjoyed an evening of glitz and glamour at the annual Newark Business Awards on Friday.

The evening held at the showground celebrated the very best of local business, with prizes up for grabs in ten categories.

This was the first in-person awards since 2019 after last year's ceremony was held online due to covid-19.

Iliffe Media chief revenue officer Ricky Allan welcomed guests at the beginning of the evening.

“We’re going to have a great evening. This is going to be a great night," he said.

“It’s been a very tough time, we know that. As a media group, our revenue fell pretty much overnight.

"The one thing that were able to do is constantly deliver trusted local news. We've all seen a lot of fake news out there over the last 18 months, but it's great to know that the people of this region were taking to our publications to see what's really going on out there."

The event raised money for Newark-based children's charity Think Children.

“We’re going to raise some serious money for these guys this evening," Mr Allan said.
