Newark Academy holds hard-fought head student elections
It has been head student election week at Newark Academy, following a rigorous campaign period.
Candidates were invited to take part in events, including question time and producing a campaign video that was shown across the academy community, to help students to make a well-informed choice on who they wanted to vote for as their next head students.
Last year’s head students, Bianca Eckert and Sophie Rouse, went along to pass the baton to their successors — Rowan Hunter and Anya Clark.
Chris Fisher, head of school, said: “At Newark Academy we pride ourselves on the development of the individual and provide opportunities for all students to build self-confidence, oracy and the skills needed to become successful citizens who are ready to make positive contributions to society.
“Our head students are the pinnacle of this mission and exemplify exactly what it means to be a Newark Academy student.
“They are role models who will go on to support the development of our academy, alongside a wonderful staff team, so that our students continue to be afforded with the high-quality experiences they deserve.”
