Nottinghamshire Police appeal for information after 73-year-old woman targeted in Newark handbag robbery

A 73-year-old woman suffered a fractured pelvis in two places after being dragged to the ground in a handbag robbery.

It was snatched from her shoulder, causing her to fall backwards, on Lovers' Lane, at around 7.30pm on Sunday.

The victim remains at King's Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The man who took the handbag was described as white, in his twenties, 6ft tall, skinny, and was wearing a dark jacket and white hooded top.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage in the area, is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 805 of November 3.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
