A young woman asked a council to adopt Black Lives Matter as policy after her boyfriend had ‘never felt the stares from white people so strongly’ during a visit to her home town.

Anna Bailey, a student at a London university, said in a letter to Southwell Town Council that contained her request: “I was ignorant to silent racism that is so present in Southwell.
