Newark family launches fundraising appeal to help woman left in coma after car crash in Australia
A Newark woman is in an induced coma after being involved in a serious car crash while travelling in Australia.
Ruby Butler, 20, was driving with her friend Gemma Mousley on the 200-mile Sunraysia Highway in Donald, Victoria on Monday (August 5), when the crash happened.
Ruby was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital having suffered severe injuries, and is currently in an induced coma with bleeds on the brain, broken ribs and a severely broken arm which requires multiple operations.
Joanne Butler, Ruby’s mother has created a GoFundMe page which has overcome the £2,000 target, by raising over £5,000 in less than 24 hours.
The funds are being raised to support the family with flights and medical costs.
People can donate at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-be-there-for-ruby.
On the online page, Ruby’s sister, Elizabeth Butler wrote: “This page will help our family be there for Ruby when she wakes up, help with medical fees, travel and accommodation.
“Anything you can give will help. We appreciate your help, kindness and support during this time.”
