Newark Business Club workshops aim to share secrets of success for award nominees

Established in 2002, Newark Business Club has become one of the leading business clubs in the East Midlands, with more than 1,000 members registered on its database and 100 regular members joining the monthly breakfast meetings.

The club proudly sponsored the Businessperson of the Year category at the Newark Business Awards 2020 and is delighted to be an associate sponsor for the 2021 awards.

The chairman of Newark Business Cub, Kevin Guthrie, said: ‘There is a natural synergy between the club and the awards — we both champion local enterprises and business-people, and are proud of their achievements, in whatever format this takes. It can be everything from financial success to community initiatives to personal development.

“As a club, we would encourage all our members to consider entering the awards and shouting about their successes.

“To this end we are organising two workshops for club members with advice on what the awards judges will be looking for, how best to summarise successes and how to complete the application form for maximum impact.”

The first of these workshops — Five Steps To Believing You’re A Worthy Winner — is being held on June 9 at 6pm and the second — Five Steps To Creating A Successful Business Award Entry — is on June 21 at 12.30pm.

Details can be found on the club’s Facebook page under the events section.

Kevin, who took over the role as chairman earlier this year, and the executive committee are on a mission to let all businesses, organisations, charities and social enterprises in and around Newark know what a fantastic thing the club is.

Each meeting is a combination of interesting and informative speakers along with the opportunity to meet and connect with people from 80 to 100 other businesses.

Newark Business Club meets on the first Friday in the month.

The June and July 2021 meetings with still be online, starting at 7.15am.

However, from August the club hopes to meet back for a face-to-face, physical meeting at the Everyday Champions Centre on Jessop Close in Newark.

New members are welcome to join at any time.

Membership is free, but there is a small fee of £7.50 to attend the physical meetings. The online meetings are free to attend.

The next Newark Business Club meeting is due to take place on Friday, June 4.

In addition to the usual first Friday meeting, the club is also holding a social event in July.

Aimed at getting people back together and comfortable in a face-to-face environment, the ‘welcome back’ event will be held late afternoon. Further details will be on the club’s website and social media channels as soon as they are confirmed.

To be among the first to receive the invite to the social event and to sign up to the next Friday morning meeting, register via the club’s website at www.newarkbusinessclub.co.uk, email chairman@newarkbusinessclub.co.uk or follow the club on social media via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
