YMCA's Newark Community and Activity Village now offering £1 and £2 classes until the end of the year
A charity is giving the community access to its sports facilities to try new hobbies and learn new skills for £1 and £2.
Until December 31, the new YMCA Community and Activity Village will offer unlimited classes in which the community can enjoy some of the best facilities and equipment across the county.
It includes a full programme to boost ones physical and mental wellbeing.
Each class is £1 to those under the age of 18, and it is available to adults for £2.
Todd Cauthorn, executive director, YMCA Newark and Sherwood, said: “As a youth charity we are putting young people first, giving them the lowest possible price for our classes.
“There’s not much that you can buy for £1 today, but here you can climb our Olympic-standard speed climbing wall, work out in our strength and conditioning gym, meet friends, learn a new skill, access our athletics tracks or try something new with a programme of classes including Tai Chi and drama.
“We know the cost of living crisis is a huge concern for local communities, but we also know the many mental and physical benefits that come from accessing facilities like ours.
“Every corner of the village has been designed with the community in mind, where people of all ages can look after their health, nurture their wellbeing and gain a sense of belonging.
“We wanted to remove any financial barriers to give people the opportunity to experience this for themselves and spend time in a safe, warm space where they can socialise with others or simply enjoy some time to themselves.”
To claim the offer, go to https://ymcanewarksherwood.org/1-classes and prebook the class of interest.
The charity advises to book in advance due to the expectations of high demand.
The money earned through the project will be invested back into the charity.
