Young people have organised an event to give something back to their community.

As part of their personal and social development programme for National Citizen Service, young people have organised an event at Claypole Village Hall, which will include building bug hotels, a cake sale, cake-decorating, and candy floss and popcorn stands.

There will be games, such as guessing the number of sweets in a jar.

The event is on Tuesday, from noon until 4pm.

National Citizen Service is designed to give 15 to 17 year-olds a chance to develop the skills needed for work and life.

One of the Claypole organisers, Sian Edwards, 16, said she hoped people would make new friends at the event.

“We want to help to get that community spirit back and make sure people can use the village hall as a local hangout,” she said.
