Newark seven-year-old has ‘Rapunzel’ hair chopped for Little Princess Trust

A seven-year-old inspired to cut her ‘Rapunzel’ hair for charity has also raised nearly £400 for the cause.

Lily-May Taylor had 16 inches cut off her hair in support of the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatments or other conditions.

Her mum, Lucy Fell, said: “She had seen a little boy in the paper had done it.

“She always wanted long hair like Rapunzel and she was basically there, her hair was right down to the back of her knees — but it was unmanageable so she said ‘I want to do what the boy did’.”

As well as her big chop, Lily-May also got her whole school involved with her fundraising.

Sir Donald Bailey Academy pupils had a crazy hair day, where youngsters came in with everything from toy cars in their hair to curled hair in Pot Noodle pots, to support the cause.

“Everyone got involved,” Lucy added.

“I’m so proud, she’s raised nearly £400 to go with the hair. It’s incredible.”
