Balderton Village Day Nursery joins Queen's birthday celebrations

Children at Balderton Village Day Nursery had great fun celebrating the Queen’s 95th birthday.

Pre-school children looked at a range of pictures of the Queen, including at her coronation, as a young girl and photographs from the present.

They then painted their own portraits of her from the pictures.

They also asked why the Union flag was being flown outside the nursery, which was explained to the children, as well as teaching them the first verse of the national anthem.

Toddlers in the Explorer Room also made crowns like the one worn by the Queen in the photographs.

Pre-school leader Rachel Yarnell said: “The children love days where we can get dressed up and look at something new. They had great fun learning the song and flying their flags.”
