Your chance to vote for the design of this year's Newark Business Awards trophies
Winners at this year’s Newark Business Awards will receive trophies specially-designed by students at Newark College.
The students have come up with a range of designs, and one will be chosen to be made into trophies to be presented at the awards ceremony on June 19.
A shortlist of three designs has been selected by Advertiser editor Sharon Hodkin and events manager Sharron Marriott, and they would like you, our readers, to choose which of the three designs should be used to create the winners’ trophies.
Penny Taylor, the advanced curriculum coach at Newark College, said students studying furniture design and making had worked together on a project to research, design and produce nine trophies using wood and perspex.
The wood is taken from an oak tree that blew down in the college grounds.
She said the opportunity to design the awards was good for the college and the students, showcasing the courses available and the skills of the teaching staff, and allowing the students to work on a genuine project.
“They were really able to use their artistic flair. They have loved doing it,” she said.
