Win tickets and vouchers to Festive Antiques Weekend at Southwell Racecourse thanks to Field Dog Fairs
Christmas is fast approaching and there is a great opportunity to grab a bargain and some festive gifts at the latest antiques weekend at Southwell Racecourse.
Run by Field Dog Fairs, the next event takes place on November 30 and December 1, offering visitors the chance to explore a diverse array of antiques, collectables, vintage, jewellery, homewares and hidden treasures.
And we have teamed up with the organisers to offer lucky readers the chance to win a host of tickets to the event and vouchers to spend.
The Christmas Season has long been a time of traditions, and a sprinkling of magic.
Take the Christmas tree, for example. Although decorating trees dates back to 16th Century Germany, it was Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s German-born husband, who made the tradition fashionable in the 1840s. The Royal Family’s decorated tree at Windsor Castle inspired a nationwide trend, and soon British households were decking their own halls with greenery.
Then there’s the beloved Christmas cracker, invented by a London sweet-maker named Tom Smith in the 1840s. Inspired by a trip to Paris, where he saw bonbons wrapped in paper twists, Smith added the signature “bang” and a joke inside to make his crackers a festive staple. Today, no Christmas day in the UK is complete without the snap of a cracker and a colourful paper crown.
The forthcoming Antiques Fair at Southwell Racecourse will be brimming with festive treats, from jewellery and decor, to furniture and collectables. A wonderful atmosphere plus food and drink, guarantees a lovely few hours for all the family.
With more than a decade of successful events, Field Dog Fairs Antiques Weekend have become a community favourite. Visitors can browse and purchase a wide variety of vintage treasures, including fine jewellery, ceramics, furniture, artwork, and more.
This weekend will also see the return of antiques expert Irita Marriott - a former stallholder with Field Dog Fairs - to offer her insight into antique finds.
The event will run from 10am to 4pm on both days. Admission for the winter event is £3 for both adults and concessions with children under 16 attending for free.
