EPPERSTONE racing driver Tom Gamble takes to the wheel of the Racing in the 24 hours of Le Mans in France, this weekend reports Paul Horton.

Gamble who was added to the McLaren Automotive factory driver lineup earlier this season can’t wait to be back behind the wheel in what will be his second time at the prestigious race in three years.

The 21-year-old superstar will race for Racing Team Turkey being run by TF Sport with teammates Salih Yoluç and Dries Vanthoor.

This is the first time a Turkish team will take part in this race in a meaningful year which coincides with both the 100th Anniversary of the Republic and the marking of the centenary Anniversary of the Le Mans 24-hour race.

The team’s #923 Oreca 07 Gibson will compete for LMP2 Pro/Am honours as part of the bumper 24-car P2 field, which this year is made up solely of Oreca chassis for the first time.

Gamble took part in 2021 with GR Racing Porsche, LMGTE Class, this year joining the LMP2 class where he is familiar to the competition and he could well be in with a chance for a Class win.

The team are in with a good chance as both Yoluç and Vanthoor have a great track record.

For Yoluç, this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours will be his fifth career start in the race and in a TF Sport-run car.

Vanthoor already has a Le Mans class win to his name, having won GTE Am with JMW Motorsport back in 2017.

The trusted trio of Gamble, Yoluç, and Vanthoor have worked hard on the track, going through testing that started last Sunday.

Further practice sessions happ-ened during the week, with the team getting the #923 Oreca supercar ready for this weekend.

Today, (Thursday) they will start qualifying sessions.

“I am excited to return to Le Mans and to join Racing Team Turkey for the first time,” said Gamble.

“I believe that with my teammates, Salih and Dries, who have achieved fantastic results over the past few seasons, we have a great chance to bring home the win in the Pro/Am category and to achieve a good overall result in the LMP2 category.

"I am grateful for the opportunity and I can’t wait to get started."

At 4pm (CET) on Saturday, the tension will mount as the car lines up alongside the Grandstand Straight.
