Success of Caunton Tennis Club's Ladies tournament inspires monthly event
More than 25 ladies entered Caunton Tennis Club’s annual tournament.
Twenty-six players made themselves available for the Ladies Partner Drawn tournament at Caunton, which saw a mix of social players and coaching groups come together.
Secretary Jude Jarvis said: “It was a fabulous morning. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the ‘not knowing’ who you would be partnered with created a really friendly and fun atmosphere.”
Eleanor Johnson and Mampa Haste were winners on the day, beating Toni Fernley and Debbie Lloyd in the final.
Following its success, the club will now run a tournament at the end of every term,
In competitive county action, Caunton junior Oliver Melady won the grade four event in the under-12s category.
He served five aces in the final, a pleasing point for coach James Harding.
Head coach Harding also announced the winner of the most-improved adult over 2020-21, which went to Jo Alcock.
