Another pdoium finish for Newark cyclist Isabel Darvill in the British Cycling Women`s Circuit Race Series at the The Ilkley Car Audio Women’s Grand Prix
A Newark cyclist has continued her successful run of races with another podium finish.
Following on her win in The VIA Criterium on a fast, technical circuit lined with thousands of spectators in the heart of London’s Kings Cross, Isabel Darvill then set her sights on the British Cycling Women`s Circuit Race Series.
As one her main objectives for the season, the rider had a tough start last Wednesday in the first round of the series at the Santini Women’s Otley Grand Prix, when she was involved in a crash after only 500 metres.
She then valiantly fought her way through the field of 100 riders to eventually finish in 10th in place.
There was no time to linger on the race as just a few days later she rode The Ilkley Car Audio Women’s Grand Prix in the second round of the series.
Darvill put on a good performance and finished on the Podium with the Bronze Medal, behind solo winner Millie Couzens of the Belgium Fenix Deceuninck Development Team.
Her next races will be The CANYON Guildford Town Centre Races today (July 3) and The Dudley Grand Prix next Friday (July 12).
On Saturday Newark’s Charlie Hoyle, racing for the Shibden Apex Race Team, rode in the British Cycling National Junior Time Trial Championships held in Newcastle Emlyn, and finished a creditable 14th in a time of 42 minutes 16 seconds for the 30km course.
Then on Sunday he raced in the British Cycling National Junior Road Race Championships in the same area and finished 44th only 22 seconds behind the winner.
Also on Saturday former Newark Castle Cycling Club Member Charlotte Lissaman, now racing for the Grity Race Team, finished second in the Female Youth Race at Round 5 of the British Cycling 2024 National Mountain Bike Cross Country Series held at the Parkwood Outdoor Centre near Bradford.
On Sunday, Jack Levick, racing for The Rose Race Team, finished 11th in the RTTC National 50 Mile Time Trial Championship near Dorchester in a time of 1 hour 43 minutes and 13 seconds with the winner being John Archibald in a time of 1 hour 33 minutes and 44 seconds.
Jack also rode the Cambridge Cycling Club (The Viking 50) time tiral, where on the 22nd June he finished third in a time of 1 hour 38 minutes and 45 seconds with an average speed of 30.39 mph.
