Newark boxing promoter Carl Greaves highlights the impact coronavirus has had on small hall shows
Boxing promoter Carl Greaves had planned for a huge evening of boxing in Leicester on Saturday, having booked a 3,000 capacity venue — but the implications of lockdown and the coronavirus saw his biggest show to date fade away.
Only television promoters Barry McGuigan and Frank Warren had previously staged shows at the Morningside Arena, and it would have been a huge step up for Newark’s former pro.
The card, which would have boasted more than 14 of his own fighters, including Newark’s Tom Cowling and Olly Marple, followed numerous previous sold-out shows.
