Epperstone brothers Tom and Harry Gamble compete in the British GT Championship and Ginetta GT Academy at Snetterton





Brothers Tom and Harry Gamble had another busy weekend in the British GT Championship and Ginetta GT Academy at Snetterton, writes Paul Horton.

The pair, from Epperstone, both secured places on the podium.

22-year-old McLaren factory driver Tom, racing for Optimum Motorsport, with his teammate Mark Radcliffe in the GT3 Pro-Am Class McLaren 720S GT3 took a podium with third place in Sunday’s second race of the weekend.

Brother Harry Gamble took another two podiums in the Ginetta, meaning he has taken top spots in all 15 rounds of the series to date.

Tom Gamble started the weekend well to take 11th spot in Free Practice and bettering this in pre-qualifying and only 0.796seconds off pole sitter to take 7th spot.

In the two qualifying sessions both Gamble and Radcliffe took 11th and a sensational fourth place spot.

Sunday’s race one saw them line-up on the grid for the 60-minute race on the seventh row in 14th spot. Radcliffe completed 12 laps and then Gamble took control for 13 laps to the chequered flag. They finished the endurance race in eighth place.

A reversed grid for race two saw Radcliffe in the driving seat first off, He made a good start and put 17 laps under his belt before pitting for fuel and tyres and Gamble jumping into the cockpit for the last 13 laps.

Gamble battled through traffic with some magnificent moves getting him within a podium.

He took the flag and a 3rd place podium in amended finish position in the 30-lap race.

Harry Gamble’s weekend was just as successful, from arriving at the Norwich circuit.

He finished second in qualifying only 0.133secs off top spot. This saw him on the front row for the first race, after a somewhat mixed race he just missed out on a podium in fourth place.

Race two saw another front row that mirrored the first race, a better race was had all round and rewards reaped taking a third-place podium spot.

The final race of the weekend saw Harry on the second row, third on the grid. As the lights went out he put the Ginetta into another very well deserved third place as the flag came out.
