Newark Striders and Newark Athletic Clubs from Nottinghamshire have successful cross country campaigns
Sunday will see the All Clubs Run take place departing from Rumbles Cafe at Sconce and Devon Park at 9am.
The run will follow the Newark Half Marathon route which will not be taking place this year due to roadworks that will be taking place on Hawton Road.
Instead, organisers will be promoting a virtual race that will take place over August 10 and 11.
George Hatton once again had a strong run in the Bucs Cross-Country championships held in Leeds on a 10k hilly and muddy course.
Hatton finished 51st amongst the British Students.
Leigh Marshall finished first in the 2nd Lincs Cross Country league match at Stroxton as he put in a superb performance.
His teammates from Newark Athletic club also put in a strong performance at the East Mids Cross Country league with Tom Marshall winning the event, Daniel Williams coming in eighth, Chris Harrison finishing 11th, Adrian Dix running 23rd, Alex O’Donnell coming 39th, Jason Perry finishing 50th and Derek King crossing over in 60th place.
Newark Athletic Club’s veterans men’s team were declared the overall winners in the East Mids league.
The club ran at Long Eaton where the men’s team came first in the event.
Leigh Marshall came second, Rob Lindsay was fourth, Daniel Williams was 12th, Chris Harrison ran in 13th, Ady Dix finished 20th, Alex O’Donnell came 37th, Jason Ludlam was 66th, Richard Peach was 89th and Chris Smith finished 101st.
The Newark Striders were also at the Long Eaton event.
Representing the club were Faye Wilson, Liam Gennery, Michael Parker, Philippa Clarke, Tom Banks, Sean Newell and Lisa Edwards, Simon Daniel, Lesley Butlin, Graham Welsh, Andy Sirrs and Alasdair Barrowman, all of whom completed the entire series.
The men's veteran team finished fourth overall in the league, and the women's senior team finished ninth.
