They lost a couple of early wickets to the bowling of Ben Fraser as he dismissed both Chris Morris and Ben Jones to leave the visitors on 10-2.

However, Umer Waheed joined opener Jack Copley for a half-century third wicket stand until the latter fell for 35.

This brought skipper Burhan Alam to the crease and he put on 101 runs for the fourth wicket with Waheed who was then dismissed for 60.

Alam went on to top score with 79 before his departure which saw Liam Tew and Charlie Dixon add a late flurry of runs.

They put on 58 runs for the sixth wicket with Dixon undefeated on 38 and Tew 22 not out at the close.

Clifton made a steady start in their reply with opener Alastair Walters making 49 before he became one of Waheed's three victims.

Alam then produced a strong spell of 3-27 from seven overs which saw Clifton lose some quick wickets and drop to 152-8.

Daniel Footitt joined Arush Deb for a defiant 63-run stand for the ninth wicket until Jones struck twice in quick succession to wrap up the win for Collingham who host fourth-placed Caythorpe on Saturday.

A fine bowling display helped Collingham's second team to an emphatic win over East Leake in Division C of the South Nottinghamshire League.

They dismissed their visitors for just 77 with Wilf Wright and Lee Fazackerley finishing with 3-35 and 3-23 respectively.

Louis Carver claimed 2-7 from his 3.2 overs while Harry Geeson grabbed 2-12 for Collingham who lost just one wicket in their run chase.

Ross Taylor had reached 49 when he was caught by Ian Stone off the bowling of Gurinder Singh just one run short of his half-century.

Lewis Biggin remained unbeaten on 22 at the end of the innings for Collingham who now sit in third place in the league standings.
