Newark Rugby Union Colts come back from being down to win game against Stamford




Newark Colts continued their good season by winning at Stamford on Saturday, 19-12.

It was a good performance for the Newark Rugby Club’s Colts as the side continued what has been a strong campaign so far.

The Colts came back from a deficit of 14-7 to win 19-12.

Tries were scored by centre Freddie Booth, hooker Sam Harrison and substitute Dan Woodward.

The team who have also reached the fourth round of the National Cup this season, have now won ten games from 13, this campaign.

The club’s 1st team will resume league fixture play on Saturday as they travel away to Tamworth, (kick off 2.15pm).

Last weekend’s match at Long Eaton was postponed due to injuries and players being unavailable.

Newark’s 2nd XV will host Ashfield at Kelham Road this Saturday, (kick off 2.15pm).

Ollerton Rugby Club played host to Retford in the Midlands Three League and won 77-12.

The hosts ran away with it in the second half as man-of-the-match Jonny Brannan contributed four tries and in-form centre David Wilson scored a hat-trick.

Fullback Ryan Bowskill kicked seven conversions and a penalty.

There was also no first-team match for Bingham Rugby Union Club who will next travel to Moderns in Nottingham on Saturday for their next fixture, (kick-off 2.15pm).
Southwell Rugby Club were not in action but have games scheduled for this coming weekend.

Their 1st team is due to travel to Nuneaton Old Edwardians on Saturday.
