Newark Football Alliance’s Covid Cup begins today




The Newark Football Alliance’s Covid Cup begins today as the country enjoys its first weekend of permitted outdoor sports.

The World Cup-styled competition will use adapted rules to keep the matches competitive.

Roll-on, roll-off substitutions will be allowed at the discretion of the referee with a maximum of five named subs.

Should a team fail to raise a side, the other team will be awarded the points.

If league positions are equal at the end of the season it will go down to the result between the teams. If the result was a draw, it will go down to the first team that scored. If it was goalless, it will be decided by a coin toss.

Play-off matches will be decided by penalties if the score is level after 90 minutes.
