Holy Trinity defeat Farnsfield in the Newark Alliance Sam Arnold Memorial Trophy final
Holy Trinity got their revenge over rivals Farnsfield as they lifted the Sam Arnold Memorial Trophy on Sunday.
The Newark-based side may have lost the Newark Alliance Premier League title to Farnsfield, but they beat them 2-0 at Collingham to take home the silverware.
A screamer from Toby White in the 38th minute gave Holy Trinity the lead going into half-time.
And Nelson Cummings made certain of the victory with a 62nd minute strike.
There was also action in the Alliance Premier League where Hawtonville and Barkestone-le-Vale played out a 12-goal thriller.
Barkestone won 7-5 thanks to four goals from Adam Daybell and a hat-trick from Jake Cullen. Unlucky Hawtonville’s goals came from Grant Reed, Clownes Steele, Andra Wilson, Robert Lee and George Sheen.
There was also a goal-fest at Walesby, who were 8-1 winners over bottom side Nobody Inn.
Jake Soper grabbed a hat-trick and there was a brace from Zach Casburn, with Zak Argyle, Mitch Lee, and Daniel King completing the scoring.
In Division One, Laxton Athletic enjoyed a 6-2 victory over Harrowby Salmons thanks to a hat-trick from Ashley Solomon, plus further goals from Lewis Banham, Jack Keenan March, and William Smith.
Rose and Crown Reserves had a 4-3 home success over last weekend’s cup winners Bottesford thanks to goals from Dan Neil, William Taylor, Connor Walsh and Lewis Dunkley.
There were also goals aplenty in Division Two where RHP Sports and Social Reserves had a 7-2 home win over Newark Town Sunday Reserves.
Fin Young scored a hat-trick for RHP, whose other goals were scored by Christopher Wareham, Darik Samson, Marcus Hallam and Callum Chilvers. Stefan Lucian Farcasanu scored twice in reply for Newark.
This weekend see the Willie Hall Cup final being played at Collingham between Hawtonville FC and The Duck.
