Isabel Darvill, racing for UCI Continental Team, Dolceni-O’Shea, competed at ANEXO/CAMS Women’s CICLI Classic at Melton Mowbray
Cyclist Isabel Darvill, racing for UCI Continental Team, Dolceni-O’Shea, scored one of her best performances in the eighth ANEXO/CAMS Women’s CICLI Classic at Melton Mowbray on Sunday.
Racing in atrocious weather conditions with flooded roads and farm tracks across the countryside between Melton and Oakham the front of the race was whittled down to the strongest dozen riders.
With the finish in Melton town centre, Isabel just missed out on the podium with fourth place in a hotly-contested sprint finish.
The winner was Eluned King, of the Lifeplus Wahoo professional team.
Out of 130 starters only 66 managed to finish a race that attracted some of the best female riders in the UK taking part in what was the opening round of the Women’s Road Series.
Isabel next races in Belgium on Thursday in the Brugge-De Panne Classic against some of world’s best female riders.
Jack Levick, of the Rose Race Team, started his 2024 season with second place in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation’s ten-mile time trial at Knarsborough on Saturday in a time of 20 minutes 24 seconds, averaging 29.412mph
