Joanne Daubney at the double in Girton Sailing Club's Autumn Series opener

As Girton Sailing Club waters basked in a much welcomed Indian Summer, round one of the Autumn Series got under way.

It was a much depleted fleet due to a clash with another open meeting but the six competing sailors enjoyed a brisk first race.

Joanne Daubney (Supernova) managed to hold off the opposition to take first place, closely followed by Sam Mason (Solo) and Paul Leafe in third (Pacer).

As the heat built up over lunch break the breeze began to diminish, and the sailors had to work hard and wait patiently for any wisp of air that came their way.

Again, Joanne Daubney coaxed her Supernova into the lead and gradually extended it by a considerable distance by the finish to make it a double.

Final results of the day: 1st Joanne Daubney (Supernova) 2nd Sam Mason (Solo) 3rd Ian Overton (Enterprise) 4th Paul Leafe (Pacer) 5th Richard Drinkall (Miracle).
