GB Three Nations: Newark ABC’s England champion boxer Jackson Daws beats Scotland’s Riley Feter in under-54kg final
Newark ABC boxer Jackson Daws is a GB Three Nations champion.
The 14-year-old England champion impressively won a split decision in his under-54kg bout against Scotland champion Riley Feter on Friday in Cardiff.
Daws had already beaten Wales champion Maximus Kirkwood in the semi-finals at the Sports Wales National Centre.
It’s a remarkable set of results for Daws, who has gone from strength to strength after winning the National Schools title at the start of May at his first attempt.
Dean Sugden, head coach, founder of Newark ABC and owner of Suggys Gym, couldn't be prouder.
He has watched Daws grow from a complete novice, has nurtured his talent and developed him as a boxer.
“This is an incredible achievement for Jackson and what an incredible, positive reflection on us as a club,” said Sugden. “Well done Jackson! We can't wait to see what else you can achieve.
“It just shows what you can achieve if you follow the process and dedicate yourself to the sport in the right environment.
“At Newark ABC, we are incredibly proud of all of our boxers, but for those like Jackson that train hard week in and week out, listen to their coaches and continually learn, this is something to shout about.”
Daws has been training at Newark ABC and Suggys Gym for around three years and has achieved so much already in his amateur boxing career.
Daws is Newark ABC’s second GB Three Nations champion after Otis Pearson also won last year.
