The Great Thoresby Easter Egg Hunt and world-class equestrian sport will come together this Easter at Thoresby Park, Newark, Nottinghamshire

The Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby Park is due to run over the Easter weekend for the first time in its relatively short history.

Event organisers said that despite the carnival being a recent addition to the calendar, it has firmly established itself as one of the country’s foremost eventing fixtures.

The Eventing Spring Carnival will feature the iconic Grantham Cup, and the added bonus of the Great Thoresby Easter Egg Hunt.

“Its early season position makes it an ideal preparatory run for the prestigious Badminton Horse Trials CCI5 event a month later,” said a spokesman for the carnival.

“Fans of the sport hoping to get a glimpse of the frontrunners — and enjoy proximity to their favourite riders — can enjoy doing both in this spectacular parkland setting.

“Running alongside the international eventing with be a range of arena classes and attractions, creating a busy schedule and fun for all the family.

“There will be an Easter egg hunt as well as circus attractions, fun fair, gun dog displays and much more.

“It will be a great family day out for Easter”.

Former Grantham Cup winner and Olympic team gold medallist Tom McEwen commented: “It has plenty of atmosphere, and it’s a real Mecca of the best horses.

“It’s a place to go and put yourself against the best of the best.”
