Newark AC’s Elliot Smith-Rasmussen made his international debut for Denmark in the Nordic Cross Country Championships in Finland




Newark AC’s Elliot Smith-Rasmussen made his international debut running for Denmark in the Nordic Cross Country Championships in Finland on Sunday.

Smith-Rasmussen finished in 11th place, only 28 seconds behind the winner. It was a solid run over a twisting hilly 7.5k course as he helped Denmark win the team race.

Molly Betmead was in action at the Podium 5k in Lancashire, finishing 26th female and running a personal best time in 17min34sec.

Ed Buck headed to the USA for a half marathon attempt, only three weeks after coming third in his first ever marathon at York. Buck finished third in the Monterey Bay Half Marathon in a time of 1:05.53.

Newark were well represented at the second match in the North Midlands Cross Country League in Corby.

Kim Etherington-Bates was 78th in the 6k female race.

In the 10k men’s race, George Hatton was 4th, Will Tucker 11th, Leigh Marshall 32nd, Dan Dunnington 35th, Rob Lindsay 44th, Dave Robinson 53rd, Chris Harrison 62nd, Tim Bagguley 71st, Ady Dix 93rd, Robin Clee 112th, Gareth Owens 130th and Paul Collingwoods finished 169th. The men's senior team are currently sitting in third place.
