Entries top 160 for race meeting
More than 160 horses have been entered for the Midlands Area Point To Point at Thorpe Lodge on Sunday.
The event is the first of two race meetings scheduled for this year at the course, which is in good condition. Racing starts at noon.
There is a large entry of 163, including about 50 in the Open Maiden race.
The first race is the Midlands Area Club Member’s race, confined to horses qualified within the area. It has 21 entries.
The winner of the second race — the Intermediate — is eligible for the £7,000 three- mile, 1.5 furlong, Connolly’s Red Mills Intermediate Point to Point Championship Final at Cheltenham in May.
Eighteen entries have been received, including 2008 course winner Ski Dazzle, of Antonia Bealby’s local stable.
A total of 24 entries have been received for the Lincolnshire Meats Company Men’s Open race.
The Ladies’ Race could be taken by the Hutchinson family with either Free or Limerick Leader.
The Restricted race has 23 entries, including the Stuart Morris-trained Duke Of Kentford who was second at Thorpe last season. Morris is also likely to ride the horse.
The Docker family, who are involved in the organisation of the meeting, have Tanner’s Hall entered.
The final race is the C & G Concrete Open Maiden race and, with 51 entries, looks highly likely to divide on the day.
