Flowserve eye up the double
Flowserve A have got their sights set on a league and cup double after winning the Hickman Cup.
The Newark and District Bowls League Division One leaders beat Ransomes 101-71 in the final at Farndon Bowls Club on Sunday, winning the trophy comprehensively after trailing early on.
In the last ten out of the 25 ends Flowserve began to pull away and eventually their strength told with a 30-point margin.
This Sunday sees the final of the League of Country Bowls Clubs’ Knockout Cup, with Bottesford A taking on Barnstone at Bingham Bowls Club, starting at 10.30am.
Bottesford A have been knocked off the top spot in the League of Country Bowls Clubs’ First Division and now trail Bingham A by two points, while at the other end of the table Balderton are struggling to avoid the drop, 41/2 points adrift of second from bottom Long Bennington A.
Lady Bay lead Division Two with Lowdham in second place, but Cotgrave have three games in hand, while Rushcliffe are the comfortable leaders in Division Three with Newark in second place.
The Farndon Open Pairs final was an all-Farndon affair, with Bill Sansom and John Helliwell beating Robin Wallwin and Tom Norman.
