Newark Football Alliance Division Two Knockout Cup winners in 1977, Lions of Newark, celebrate trophy success more than 40 years later

A cup-winning football team that lost touch with each other over the years re-united for a night of drinks, memory sharing and laughter.

Lions of Newark, who, in 1977, celebrated winning the Newark Football Alliance Division Two Knockout Cup with a 2-1 win over Radcliffe Lions at The Stadium (Elm Avenue) shared stories of the past having not seen each other for more than 40 years.

The get together was organised by Alan Lowe, 64, of Newark, when his former team-mate, Hedley Green, told him he was travelling to England from the US, where he now lives.
