Former Southwell Golf Club captain takes top spot in 2020 Seniors’ Open

Former captain Richard Nevin (below) has been named winner of Southwell Golf Club’s 2020 Seniors’ Open.

The club’s open attracted more than 110 golfers from around the East Midlands, and it was Nevin’s impressive score of 39 points that saw him claim top spot at the open.

For the first time, the event was titled the Bob Mitchell Seniors’ Open in memory of the former event organiser and seniors’ captain, who died last year.

Di and Grant Mitchell, Bob’s wife and son, attended to present the prizes to the winners.

Current seniors’ captain, John Bentley, said: “Bob would have been delighted with such an excellent turnout.”

He also announced the club planned to donate some of the entry fees to NHS Charities Together.
