Southwell Rugby Club make clean sweep winning four from four on the weekend





It was four wins from four games for Southwell Rugby Club in an impressive senior campaign.

The first team secured back-to-back wins as they defeated Burton 32-26 at home.

It was a tough-fought match with skipper James Barker securing victory for his side with a last-minute try.

The Southwell 2nd team travelled to Worksop where they tasted success against the home side.

The team took the contest 22-14 in a gutsy performance.

The club's 3rd side, the Bandits defeated East Retford 22-17 in a close thriller.

Junior coaches Dan Tovey, Simon Bowler and Stuart Perkins played in the side as they set an example for the club's younger players.

James Beaumont and his son Tobias took the field together in what was a special moment for the family.

The side included several RAF personnel and a small contingent from the RAF were also there to cheer them on.

A Southwell Rugby Club spokesman said that it had been a successful weekend for them and that it was excellent work that they had managed to field three senior sides.

The Colts side had a big win against Nottingham Casuals as they swept them away winning 37-5.

The first team will now travel to Ashby on Friday night for their next league fixture (kick-off 7.30pm).
