Freddie is a triple champion

By Advertiser Reporter

An 11-year-old speed skater became a triple British champion after dominant performances.

Freddie Polak, of Bleasby, was in action in the 222m, 333m and 500m events at the British Short Track Championships.

He was competing in category E, which includes the youngest competitors and stormed the field in all three disciplines.

Polak raced to victory with ease in all three distances, winning by a comprehensive margin in the heats and finals.

He was given certificates after the races for achieving British record times in his age group earlier in the season.

The competition was held at the National Ice Centre, Nottingham, where Polak is a member of Nottingham Ice Racing Club.

He is due to take part in one more event before going up to the next age group when he takes part in the Bradford Open on May 12.
