Newark Town FC welcomes new management team members from Lincoln United and Holwell Sports FC
Newark Town have received a welcome boost with a few fresh faces joining the management team.
Neil Miller and Mitch Giffiths have joined The Blues ahead of the upcoming season which see the team compete in Step Five of the United Counties League Premier Division North for the first time.
Together they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that manager Luke Parsons can tap into as the club continues to strengthen the squad during pre-season training and friendlies.
Neil joins from being manager at Holwell Sports FC and parting ways with the club during the closed season.
Mitch comes on board not just as part of the management team but as a player too, off the back of playing at Lincoln United last season and winning their Players Player and Managers Player of the season.
In a social media video, Parsons spoke about his new coaching team.
He said: “We’ve had to make a few changes from last season.
“I’d been in contact with and known Mitch for a while, we’d had conversations over the last couple of months.
“He wanted to take a step into management and I always knew I’d need a hand going forward.
“I decided to approach him to see if he’d like to join myself and after a few conversations about our visions we finally got it done.
“He had a fantastic season last year for Lincoln and now we’re in Step Five, he knows the league.
“He’s a fantastic player and hopefully will be a fantastic role model too for the younger ones.
“Neil was Holwell manager last season, the situation there was out of his control and he left.
“I’ve known Neil for ages and respected him, so as soon as I heard the news I dropped him a messaged and asked what his plans were for next season.
“I said I’d like to offer you a position here with us in the management team and he accepted straight away.”
Additionally the club had added Ben Hawker, of Hawk Wellness and Sports Therapy, as the new club physio, and Andrew Curl in data analysis to the backroom staff.
