Bishop Grosseteste University’s Football Society launch fundraiser in memory of Southwell City Football Club's Ged Law
A fundraiser in memory of a man who was at the heart of his local football community will start next week.
From Monday, Bishop Grosseteste University’s Football Society will run 200 miles in one week to raise funds for The Lincolnshire And Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust.
The fundraiser will be held in memory of Ged Law, 63, who died last month after collapsing during a walk with his wife, Helen.
Ged was well known in the football community, particularly for his work with Southwell City, where his son, Calum, played.
Calum, now 24, who is also a popular figure in the football community, plays for Wheatsheaf United and Radford, having joined the latter after impressing following high-scoring seasons with Southwell City’s first team.
Calum also plays for the Grosseteste university side in Lincoln and to remember Ged’s efforts, his team-mates launched the fundraiser. The page smashed its initial target of £500, with more than 130 donations.
