Racing driver George Gamble will compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season with the Team Parker Racing Squad.

The 21-year-old from Southwell will line up alongside team mate Seb Perez in this year’s competition.

Gamble, who finished third in the Ginetta GT4 standings last year and was GT5 Challenge champion in 2014, was a finalist for the Carrera Cup’s Junior programme but Dan Harper was selected instead.

Despite that, Gamble still wanted to compete in the series and will line-up alongside Perez in Amigos-backed Porsche.

“I am really excited for it,” said Gamble.

“We have both driven the old and new cars and it is a cool car to drive.

“It will take me a few rounds to get my head around it and then I will try to challenge for some wins.

“My main objective is to win the rookie championship as there are some great prizes with Porsche.”

Gamble will experience a change to championship qualifying, with the second race grid of the weekend to be decided by the result of the first race.

A number selected at random will also decide if the first four, five, or six drivers on the grid will have their positions reversed.

All other competitors will start from the position they finished in the first race, with both races featuring a standing start.

The Championship will be run over eight race weekends, starting at Brands Hatch on April 6 to 8.
