George Gamble from Epperstone has a good weekend at the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain Championship at Snetterton

Epperstone's George Gamble had a good weekend in rounds three and four of the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain Championship at Snetterton.

The 28-year-old reigning 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain champion took the Norfolk circuit by storm after taking a second place Pro Class podium spot in race two and narrowly missing out in race one to take a fourth-place finish.

Gamble bettered his opening two rounds at Donington Park four weeks before where he was plagued with issues with the Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport team Porsche Carrera for most of the weekend, writes Paul Horton.

He finished combined eighth fastest in Friday's two test sessions that saw an 11th and a sixth fastest in the individual sessions over Snetterton’s tight and twisty 2.96-mile tarmac.

Saturday morning’s 30-minute qualifying session saw Gamble complete 13 laps taking fifth by the end of the session after getting three lap times disallowed for exceeding track limits.

Needless to say, he was on it for all of the session that saw him take fastest lap on lap five with a time of 1:49.528secs and only 0.251 seconds of the top spot.

Team-mate Andrew Rackstraw took third place during the session.

Race one on Sunday morning, marked the 400th Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain race history.

It saw George line up fifth on the grid on the third row and ready for take-off.

As the lights went out, Gamble had a fantastic start to the race that saw him move straight into fourth place.

By lap nine, Gamble had dropped back to eighth place and needed to push the Porsche to get back in the fight for some points.

Three laps later Gamble was back in seventh of the 14-lap race. He remained there to take the chequered flag and take fourth in Pro Class.

It was a demanding race for Gamble - he found it difficult to overtake on Snetterton's difficult course.

During the race he took two fastest laps of the circuit on lap two and four.

Rackstraw finished the race in second, dominating the position for the last five laps of the race, both finishing giving the team more points in the championship.

Race Two later in the day saw Gamble line up on the fourth row (seventh on the grid).

Again a great start saw Gamble push the Porsche straight into sixth followed by some first corner bunching making it difficult to gain any more places on the first lap.

On lap four, Gamble took the fastest lap of the race, he remained in sixth spot only 4.726 seconds off the lead.

The circuit was proving to be difficult to find the right space at the right time to make any moves, but Gamble wasn't giving in to trying wherever he could with no avail.

By lap six he was getting faster, despite being still stuck in traffic with nowhere to go.

Seven laps later Gamble was putting the pressure on Sid Smith and a mistake by Smith and a great move by Gamble put the Porsche straight into fifth.

Gamble remained there to take the flag to the delight of the team to take fifth overall and a second place podium in Pro Class.

Rackstraw took fourth overall and first place in Pro Class.

Gamble leaves Snetterton in fourth place in the driver's championship with 21 points and Century Motorsport lead the Team Championship with 103 points.

You can watch Gamble live in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain Championship on ITV4 as rounds five and six move to the Thruxton Circuit on June 7-8.
