Happy anniversary for Farndon club
Farndon Bowls Club marked their 25th anniversary on Sunday, with more than 50 past and present members and guests joining the celebrations.
An afternoon of bowls was followed by a buffet and drinks at Farndon Memorial Hall.
The club was formed in 1983 at a meeting held in Farndon cricket pavilion and they began life by using the bowling green at London Road, finishing bottom of Division Three in the Newark and District Bowls League.
They continued to play their home matches at London Road until 1988 when their new green at Farndon was ready, and the club were given the old tennis pavilion from British Sugar which they used for five years until a new pavilion was built in 1992.
The Farndon club has progressed steadily over the years, winning several competitions, including both the league and cup, and have twice been finalists in county competitions, with individual members being successful in county competitions and representing the county in national fixtures.
