Cloe Hubbard takes gold at Notts Summer League as Newark Athletic Club enjoy medal haul
Cloe Hubbard was crowned ladies’ series champion after another podium finish in the Notts Summer League.
The Newark Athletic track runner, 24, finished second in the final round at Teversal in 38-09.
Her win started the medal rush for Newark as strong times for Amber (39-09) and Tilly Owens (54-33) saw them place with silver and bronze in the under-20 category.
The club was led on the night by Tim Bagguley, who finished 52nd in 38-36, three seconds before Thomas Hubbard.
President Gareth Bagguley beat the hour mark to finish 252nd in 59-32.
Hubbard took her good form into the Newark Half-marathon, where she finished third in the ladies’ category (01-20-31) — a new club record.
“It went really well for me and I was happy with my performance,” said Hubbard.
“It was completely new to me. The last time I ran a half was five years ago.”
Hubbard, who prefers the 5k and 10k distances, said she may make the step up in distance in the future.
“To run competitively over that distance was tough, but in three to four years it could become something I train towards,” she said.
