Former Newark Rugby Club player earns England under-20 caps against Canada and USA




A former player from Newark Rugby Club has earned two international caps.

Abbie Hart, who started her rugby at Kelham Road as a 14-year-old, played two matches for an England under-20s squad in a tournament staged in Cardiff over the last week.

Now playing for Loughborough Lightening, Abbie was a substitute against Canada followed by a starting appearance in the back row against the USA.

The young England squad lost both games narrowly – 33-36 versus Canada and 22-40 against the USA.

A spokesman for Newark Rugby Club said: “Well done Abbie. We look forward to following your playing career. Mum and dad – Sophie and Aaron – should be very proud.”
