Jan Bailey, of Newark Athletic Club, clocks new best at Cambridge Half Marathon finishing above 9,000 runners
Jan Bailey was back in action this weekend, clocking a four-minute personal best in the Cambridge Half Marathon.
The Newark Athletic Club runner finishing in 01-12-03, taking 15th overall and first in his age category (veteran 45).
More than 9,000 runners took part.
There was also a return of the North Midlands cross-country league at Markeaton Park for several athletes.
Janet Davies was Newark’s first lady back, while Simon Roberts was first back for the men.
Joseph Monk was 12th place overall in the under-15s boys’ race.
Sunday saw the second round of the Notts Mini League Cross Country, held at Newark Academy.
Racing in very wet weather as usual, the results were; under-11 girls Maisie Mullett (first), Lucy Beardsmore (seventh), Isla Picker (eighth), Olivia Lindsay (13th), Evangeline Chrispin (14th), Flo Monaghan (28th), and Sophie Owen (31st).
Teddy Macintyre (second), Reuben Shivas (sixth) and Ben Ludlam (tenth) raced in the under-11 boys’ event.
Niamh Ford was 16th in the under-13 girls race, while Eric Unaigwe (sixth), Cameron Shivas (13th) and Dominic Taylor (18th) ran the boys’ race.
Jasmine Braithwaite and Joseph Monk both finished was runners-up in their respective under-15 races, while Anna Clarke (eighth), Hattie Monaghan (ninth) and Ryley Picker (12th) also competed.
