Newark Castle Archers juniors smash new records at Nottinghamshire Indoor Championships




Two youth members from Newark Castle Archers wrote themselves into the history books with a special showing at the indoor championships.

Kyan Jones broke the under-14 and under-12 junior gents barebow categories’ record as the Nottinghamshire Indoor Championships.

While club-mate Taylor Freshney broke the under-18 and under-16 junior gents barebow categories.

Jones recorded a score of 281, while Freshney kept his cool to shoot 314.

“This is a great boost for them as young archers and also our club,” said the club’s chairman Mandie Elson.

“I’m now on the task of breaking some myself along with a few other senior archers.”

Also competing at the shoot was Marti Voce and Steve Pepper, who each took silver.
