Newark Rugby Club return to Midlands Two East North action at Coalville on Saturday (January 4)
Newark Rugby Club’s first team are back in action on Saturday at Midlands Two East (North) leaders Coalville (kick off 2.15pm).
The team will be hoping to continue winnings ways having won their last two games before Christmas against Ashbourne and Nottingham Casuals.
Newark return to Kelham Road on Saturday, January 11, against Dronfield — kick off 2.15pm.
The club’s 2nds are scheduled to play at Bingham on Saturday, while the 3rds host Paviors 3rds at Kelham Road — kick off 2.15pm
More than 50 players took part in the annual President’s Match on Boxing Day, the club XV defeating the invitation team, 37-10, captain Will Britten scored two tries.
It saw the return of former players, players who were away at university, and clubmen.
The whole game was played in a great spirit and offered some entertaining rugby for the crowd to enjoy,” said Matthew Clark, who selected the President’s team alongside David Shiels.
Highlights from the fixture saw memorable moments for numerous rugby families.
The Coen family had three brothers and a son on after 30 minutes, taking the position of six, seven, eight and nine.
The Slack triplets also featured, while George and Josh Seabrook also made their way onto the pitch.
